Doyenne in Property is a leading network dedicated to connecting, supporting, and inspiring women in the property industry. As an ambassador of this growing community, I am proud to be part of an initiative that is driving real change in diversity, inclusion, and leadership within property and real estate.
At Remus, we actively support Doyenne’s mission to empower women in property management and leadership roles. We encourage our colleagues to get involved and proudly provide financial support for its annual conference—an event that brings together industry professionals to share insights, build connections, and celebrate success.
In both 2023 and 2024, Fexco sponsored award categories at the Doyenne annual ceremony, held alongside International Women’s Day. These events showcased inspiring guest speakers and highlighted the achievements of women making a meaningful impact across the property sector.
Driving Diversity in the Property Industry
The property industry has historically been male-dominated, but we are now seeing a positive and necessary shift. More women are stepping into leadership roles, influencing decision-making, and shaping the future of the industry.
At Remus, we believe it is essential to support this progress. We do this by:
- Providing mentorship and career development opportunities
- Supporting women in property leadership pathways
- Enabling time and access to industry events and networking opportunities
Creating an environment where women can grow and succeed helps strengthen not only individual careers, but also the wider property management industry.

- Unsung Hero – Highly Commended: Andrea Barnard
- Rising Star – Winner: Natalie Stride
- Returner of the Year – Highly Commended: Sophie Cundy-Borge
- Returner of the Year – Highly Commended: Stevie Rokovucago
These achievements reflect the strength of talent across our organisation and the growing impact of women in the property industry.
Career Growth in Property Management
We spoke to members of our team about their journeys in the property management sector, highlighting the opportunities available for women building long-term careers in real estate.
Natalie’s experience demonstrates the progression possible within property management careers:
“With minimal experience in the property industry, I joined Fexco in 2018 as an Assistant Property Manager. I was supported through my TPI apprenticeship and progressed quickly into Property Management. I later moved into Business Development, became a line manager, and in 2025 was appointed Head of Mobilisation—my proudest achievement to date.”
This journey highlights the importance of support, development, and opportunity in building successful careers in the property industry.
Why Choose a Career in Property?
The property management industry offers a diverse and rewarding career path.
“My passion for property management comes from the variety—no two days are the same. It’s about problem-solving, building relationships, and creating positive experiences,” says Stevie.
For many, like Natalie, the journey starts unexpectedly:
“I didn’t originally plan a career in property, but the people around me inspired me to pursue it and grow within the industry.”
This reflects the growing appeal of careers in property and real estate, particularly for those seeking progression and variety.
Women in Property: Progress and Challenges
There has been clear progress in gender diversity within the property sector:
“There’s been a noticeable shift towards inclusivity, with more women in leadership roles and having their voices heard,” says Stevie.
However, challenges remain:
“Early in my career, I felt I had to work harder to prove myself in a male-dominated environment. Over time, I built confidence, developed my skills, and learned to advocate for myself,” shares Sophie.
Natalie adds:
“My challenges were more about my own confidence. Over time, I’ve grown into my role and now trust my knowledge much more.”
These experiences highlight both the progress made and the importance of continued support for women in property careers.
Skills for Success in Property Management
Success in property management roles requires a combination of professional and interpersonal skills, including:
- Being proactive and solution-focused
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Excellent organisation and time management
These skills are essential for anyone looking to grow within the property and real estate industry.
Our Commitment to Women in Property
At Remus, we remain committed to supporting Doyenne in Property and championing the talented women shaping the future of the industry.
By recognising achievements, supporting career development, and creating opportunities for connection, we are helping to build a more inclusive and balanced property sector.
We are proud of the progress we have made and look forward to seeing even more women succeed, lead, and make a lasting impact in property management and real estate.
